Union Horse Calvary

The American Civil War (1861-1865) was one of the last major conflicts in which horse cavalry units figured prominently. The increased use of automatic firearms made charging cavalrymen easy targets for opposing infantry. With the creation of armored military vehicles after World War I, most horse cavalry units were absorbed by armored units.
